Backstretch Families’ Dark Day Bagged Lunch Program
Since the summer of 2012, due to St. Clement’s Parishioners’ very generous donations, St. Clement’s Outreach Program has been preparing bagged lunches to welcome 75 BACKSTRETCH WORKERS’ family members upon their arrival for the day in Saratoga Springs. Family members, spending the day here with their loved ones, are transported by bus from Belmont on two of the “Dark Day” Tuesdays. This is true for the opposite two Tuesdays, as well, for 50 BACKSTRETCH WORKERS who go down to Belmont for the day to see family or attend to business.
This year, it involves four Tuesdays: July 31, August 7, 14, and 21st. We have a group of up to 17 volunteers who assist in the pre-planning and preparing the anticipated total of 250 lunches for this upcoming season. We are blessed with some vendor donations and price breaks but still need other sources of income to cover our expenses which comes to approximately $550. Would you please consider making a donation to the St. Clement’s Outreach Program (Backstretch Lunches) to help us continue this program?
